I didn’t always have breathing allergies. They first hit me when I was about seventeen living next to a pine forest. A few years later I worked as a field biologist where each step I took erupted a pollen cloud around me. (In other words, a nightmare!) My sinuses used to be so full it felt like they were about to burst out of my head. I was a slave to the cycle of different anti-histamines, eye-drops and pain medications.
My breathing allergies came and went year after year. Some seasons they were gone, only for the same symptoms to return the next year. The pollen load and my personal toxicity levels had everything to do with my reactions. And over time, as my body continued to react to foreign molecules, it eventually got confused and started reacting to myself. It was the auto-immune symptoms that kicked me into high gear to figure out what was going on.
Over years of study, numerous teachers and a Diploma in Holistic Nutrition I learned how to reduce my toxicity, strengthen my immune system and normalize my body’s reactions through therapeutic foods. Today I fully enjoy spring and summer days and love handstand competitions that leave me rolling around in fresh cut grass!
